Full Size Dodge Truck Restoration
1977 W100 Adventurer Power Wagon

This old Dodge has been sitting in a Colorado field for several years and will need some work to get back on the road. It was abused pretty hard while it was still being driven. It was a gift from my Aunt and Uncle, who I am staying with for a few months this year, "free, but you have to get it running." We towed it from the field to the garage with a 4-wheeler where my uncle and I replaced the fuel pump and battery to get it running, but the contrary old carburetor would have it's way and either flood the truck or not give it enough gas to keep running. With a few adjustments it is working better but will need to be replaced. Below I have listed the work that needs to be done or replaced. This "restoration" is will not be a complete restoration and there are no plans to keep everything original.

A little about the truck:

  • 360 V8
  • 4 speed tranny on the floor
  • full time 4 wheel drive with locking transfer-case, fixed yoke & cv shafts
  • Dana 44 front end
  • Chrysler 9 1/4 rear end with posi
  • 8 foot bed
  • Holley 2 barrel carb. (will be replaced with 4 bl)
  • heavy duty rear bumper
  • fading orange paint
  • slight body damage

To-do list of things to fix and replace:

  • carburetor
  • clutch (done)
  • rear main bearing seal (done)
  • oil pan gasket (done)
  • windshield
  • seats (done)
  • turn signal switch
  • new tie-rod end and wheel bearing (there was a recall on the front end, may get new axle assay.)
  • full exhaust replacement

Future Modification Plans:

  • spray on truck bed liner on interior
  • lift kit
  • new tires
  • winch

Here is a "photoshopped" picture of what it could look like in a few months:

Below are some pictures of the installation of bucket seats from a 2001 Dodge Ram that i picked up at a junkyard for 100 bucks. The original seats in the truck were extremely worn out and the seat cover was even worn out, it was definitely time new something better. Taking out the old seats was a breeze, just four bolts. The new seats fit in the cab well but brackets needed to be fabricated to mount the seats to the cab floor. I had access to a welder but I had never welded before in my life, so i taught myself. The welds were not the greatest looking, but they were strong and not very sloppy.

I recently applied a spray-on bed liner on the cab floor. I used three cans of Rustoleum spray on truck bed liner, which is very light duty compared to most bed liners. Below is a before and after picture of the cab floor and new seats:

I got a new Edelbock carb for the truck and installed it. I also finished cleaning up the paint and had a side exit exhaust pipe custom bent and a Cherrybomb glass pack put on. Here is a picture of the truck as it sits now:
